Cloudbelly released a beautiful new single, “Poppa” and it stayed with me after the first listen. The song starts gently with Corey Laitman’s soft and low vocal sitting close to the music. From there, the drums and guitars slowly grow around her voice which gives the song more weight without losing its quiet sadness. The writing is honest and deeply personal, as Laitman speaks to her grandfather and remembers his life, love, and later years. Her delivery is calm but powerful and the chorus is easy to remember.
