I went into this fresh album “It’s Just a Kiss-Off” by The Del-Viles not really knowing what to expect. But honestly, it didn’t take long to pull me in. From the first seconds of the opening track “The City” I could feel the energy right away. The guitars hit hard, the drums are alive and the vocals have this raw character that just works. It sounds confident and polished. This band already understands their identity.

“What You Got” slows things down a little, but not in a boring way. I actually found myself going back to it because the melody sticks almost instantly. It has that simple catchy rock feeling that reminds me why I like this kind of music in the first place. Then “Two-Tone Dress” comes in with a groove that really stood out to me. The bass and drums are amazing and they give the song a strong danceable rhythm.

“Wild” is probably one of my favorite moments on the album. It’s loud, a bit messy in the best way, and the vocals are very raw and unfiltered. There’s something about it that is just honest. “If I Might If I May” brings a bit more emotion into the mix while “Don’t Hang Around” gives a softer break that I didn’t expect, but actually appreciated.

After that, the album builds its energy again. “Charlotte” and “Skeleton” bring back that strong rock sound and I liked how tight and focused everything sound. “Go Figure” caught me off guard a bit. The vocals and drums really shine there. And then “I Hate You” just goes all in. It’s strong, direct and doesn’t try to hide what it is. I respect that a lot.

One thing I kept noticing while listening is how the lyrics are written. The songs use short repeating lines, and at first I thought it might feel too simple. But it’s not. That smart choice makes the songs easier to remember and I found myself picking up lines without even trying.

The ending with “River Seine” felt really special to me. After all the noise and energy, it slows everything down with acoustic guitar and warm vocals. It’s calm and personal and it closes the album in a way that stays with you for a bit.

I really enjoyed my time with this album. It’s fun, rich, and honest. I can easily see myself coming back to it again, and for me, it’s definitely worth both your time and your support. You can find the full album on Bandcamp, where it’s available for around $5 digitally and $10 for a CD edition. This band is worth your time and money!
