Alexander Paul Burton is an artist I just discovered a couple of weeks ago and loved so much listening to his new release “Ezekiel’s Eye One – Determinism in D Harmonic Minor”. It’s the opening piece of his upcoming project Ezekiel’s Eyes, and it really shows why this project deserves attention. In a world where so much music is built from AI loops and sounds, Alexander goes in the other direction. This is a piece made by hand, in real time, with one person, one piano, and a clear artistic purpose.
The opening is calm and quiet. A soft right-hand melody sits over slow piano movement, while the long pedal lets the notes stay in the air. The sound is sad, heavy, and strangely beautiful. Every note hangs for a moment before the next one arrives. The piece slowly grows. It rises, pulls back, then drops into deeper sections before finding its way upward again. It’s one of the best tracks I’ve heard this year!
What really makes this release even more interesting is the idea behind it. Alexander wants the listener to know where the music came from and how it was made. Nothing was generated, fixed or built by AI after the performance. The music comes from his hands as he plays which gives the piece a strong human identity.
This artist has so much passion and he plays with real care, skill, and patience. The light backing sound adds so much warmth. I knew it was a grand Yamaha from the first notes and he played it so good.
Did you see the artwork? It’s an original hand-made piece of art, so the project connects music and drawing as two parts of the same idea (real human skills). It is a creative start to a very personal project, and I would love to hear where Burton takes it next. He is an artist worth watching closely. Make sure to share his music with your friends!
