Miya Zawa has released a new single, “yakitori” and it walks in with a sly smile. The track is playful, smooth and a little dangerous in the best way. The song is about those bad-for-you relationships where one foot is already out the door, but the need for closeness, desire, or a little drama keeps you there. That idea comes through clearly. Her voice is soft but sure and the chorus sticks fast without making a big scene. I really liked the solid production, the clever sound design and the small details moving under the vocals. The song, has a nice late-night glow, catchy melodies and enough charm to make repeat plays easy.
