Jon-Olov Woxlin has released his new album, “Obviously just like Robert Milkwood”, and I have to say, I had a great time listening to it. There are 14 songs here and I enjoyed every single one. Sometimes all I want is a good voice, a guitar and songs worth sitting down for. This album has all three.

Jon keeps things simple. His guitar is right there with him and his raw voice makes the lyrics stand out. I love how well the guitar and his singing go together. One never gets in the way of the other. There are harmonicas on the album too, but the main joy for me is hearing him sing and play. You can hear how much care he puts into his songs without needing a big sound around him.

The writing is another reason I kept listening. He wrote the music and lyrics himself and that personal touch is what makes this album special for me. The melodies are lovely and his voice has a rich and honest sound that I could listen to for hours. I also like that the album gives you time to enjoy the songs instead of rushing through everything. The tempo is just perfect!

If I had to pick one track, it would be “Born in Sin“. I went back to it again and again, even after finishing the full album. That said, I wouldn’t skip the rest. Put your phone down, find a quiet spot and press play. Jon-Olov Woxlin is an artist I’ll be keeping an eye on 🙂
