Some music just finds you at the right time. That’s how I felt when I discovered “Only Borrowed”, the new EP from Kevin Rose. I didn’t know his work before, but after listening to these six beautiful songs, I’m really glad I found him.
From the first track, it’s clear that Kevin has something special. His voice is rich, soulful and full of emotion. Every word feels real and honest. The melodies stay with you long after the music stops. And the production? Clean, smooth and perfectly matched with his sound. You can tell a lot of heart went into this project.
The EP opens with “Should’ve Known Better” a gentle and emotional track that sets the mood with soft instrumental and heartfelt lyrics. It feels like a late-night conversation with someone you love. Next comes “How Many Times” which is catchy and full of energy. The beat pulls you in and the lyrics speak to the pain and confusion of love, something many of us know too well.
The title track, “Only Borrowed” might be my favorite. It’s a moving song that talks about how nothing in life is truly permanent. The chorus hits hard and the soft and layered instruments behind his voice make it even more powerful. It’s the kind of song that makes you stop and think.
“Fire” lives up to its name, it burns slowly, building with emotion and taking you on a journey. Then there’s “Got On A Plane” which is a standout moment on the EP. It’s full of creative production with rich layers of sound and a strong story. Finally, “Anymore” closes the project in the most perfect way. It’s gentle, emotional and honest, like a quiet goodbye.
Throughout this EP, Kevin Rose shows he’s not just a great singer, but also a thoughtful songwriter. He blends indie pop with touches of R&B and Americana, creating a sound that feels fresh but also warm and familiar. This is a beautiful debut that explores love, loss and the things we can’t hold onto forever. If you like music that makes you feel something, don’t miss this one. Kevin Rose is a name you’ll want to remember.
