Jenn Howard has released a beautiful new EP called “Glass” and I have to say, her voice was the first thing that caught my attention. There is so much warmth in the way she sings, but she also knows when to let her voice grow stronger. In these five songs, she shares stories about the harder parts of life and the music gives her writing enough room to stand out.
The EP opens with “Mary”, a gentle song with lovely vocals and a nice mix of instruments. I enjoyed how the music has little changes while Jenn keeps everything calm and easy to listen to. “Sip” is another beautiful moment. The acoustic instruments sound wonderful beside her soft singing, and the harmonies add a special touch. The song looks at how people sometimes turn to drinking when life becomes difficult. I like that she can write about something serious while keeping the music so peaceful.
Then comes “Addict”, where her honest writing and strong singing really shine. The acoustic strings work well behind her voice and there is a lot to love in how she delivers the song. “Bury Your Head” might be my favorite of the five. She shows off her amazing vocal range here and I honestly loved listening to her melodies. She has such a rich voice.
The last one “Beat The Dead Horse” brings the EP to a perfect close. It was a lovely ending and it made me want to play everything again. This EP is a strong collection about getting through difficult times and Jenn Howard is an artist I want to hear more from. Make sure to share it with your friends!
