Ezra Vancil just landed on my radar with this new release “The Ballad of Carmalito”. It’s a beautiful song featuring René Martinez. I loved the simple instrumentation here, especially the guitar work and the warm Latin touch. Ezra’s vocals are smooth and the melodies carry the story in a very natural way. The lyrics tell a dark story about jealousy, betrayal, revenge, and a terrible mistake that changes everything. Even with that heavy story, the music stays rich and beautiful. René Martinez adds some wonderful guitar moments, while Ezra gives the song real heart here. This is a strong and emotional listen from start to finish.
