Awake & Dreaming released “Cold Shoulder” and this one shows how much care the band puts into every part of their music. The drums hit hard, while the guitars, bass and keys work together with purpose. Sasha Kristoff’s voice is smooth, strong and easy to follow, with hooks that stay in your head for days. The song is about breaking away from the numbness of modern life and the darker verses slowly build toward a bigger release. The mix is clean, the melodies are strong and the ending brings everything home with the memorable line, “I’m gonna dance in the street while it’s burning” which is my favorite hook of the year.
