Blank Instrument has released her debut album, “Jumping At Ghosts”, and I have to say, Kim Franklin has made something beautiful here. She shows how much she can do with her voice, her writing and a good melody. I enjoyed the whole album, but a few songs deserve special attention.

“Brand New” opens the record, and what a lovely choice. Her charming voice, sweet melodies, and beautiful chorus make this one of my favorites. I honestly cannot think of a better way to begin the album. There is something so warm about her singing and the lyrics fit the music wonderfully.

Another song I really enjoyed is “Look”. The gentle instruments leave room for Kim’s pure and lovely voice to shine. The simple acoustic sound works so well with her honest words and that is why I like it. She knows when to let a song stay quiet.

Then comes “My Time”, which brings a different kind of energy. I especially loved the drum work here. Her catchy singing, melodies, and the lively sound make it a joy to listen to. It is a nice change without losing what makes her music special.

There is more to discover across the album. Some songs deal with love and hope, while others touch on grief and difficult thoughts. Kim has shared that her late friend Julie helped make this record possible, which adds a personal meaning to the project.

What impressed me most was the care behind the music. The instruments sound lovely, the mixing is clean and each song has its unique character. The album sounds like one complete piece of work. Kim Franklin has a voice and a gift for writing songs. I will be watching what she does next. Enjoy and make sure to share it with your friends!
