Hi everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve heard a new independent artist make a project this easy to replay. Lukas James released his six-track EP “TAKES TO BECOME”, and I have had it on repeat since I first heard it. The whole project sounds personal and made with real care.
It opens with “SCRAMBLE!”, where Lukas comes in with a strong flow and a confident performance. His voice is rich and easy to remember. The beat is great and gives him enough space to move. From there, the EP keeps changing without losing its unique sound. “Dead Prez” has a strong hook and CJ Fly adds a great touch that fits the track perfectly.
“Can’t Be Life” is one of the most honest moments here. Lukas writes about the hard side of life today, and his smooth delivery makes those lines land even better. The production around him is clean and gives the writing room to breathe.
The instrumentals are creative and carefully built. The mixes are clean, the mastering is strong and every vocal sits well inside the music. Lukas also knows when to change his flow, add melody, or keep things simple. That makes the EP easy to play from start to end.
“TAKES TO BECOME” is a strong project from an artist building his sound from the ground up. Lukas James shows confidence, good writing and real control of his voice. He is a talented rapper and I really love his direction!
